We are a group of passionate anglers that spend a lot of time on the water - and sadly see an awful lot of trash dumped in, on, or around that water.
Most anglers we know already have the habit of collecting trash while they are out on the water. Like us, they love nature and want the best for our waterways.
As anglers, we are often lucky enough to fish in places where few other people have a reason (or the good fortune) to go. But still, we see the traces of other humans in the trash that ends up dropped in, or washed down, our rivers.
Even though it is not us who dump that trash, we still feel a responsibility to clean it up. A responsibility to help keep our environment clean and safe for local flora and fauna.
We wanted to find a way to show the world the efforts that are being made by anglers across the globe - so we decided to log all the trash that we collected while fishing. And make it easy for others to do the same. That's how Trash Anglers was born.
Now we won't just be helping to keep our waterways clean and clear by collecting trash - we will be collecting valuable data about the types and sources of trash in those waterway. Through our joint efforts we won't just be finding and clearing away the mess, but helping find ways to stop it in the first place
We are a global group of fly fishing friends. We believe that every day we spend on the water is a privilege, and that if we are going to enjoy that privilege, we must also take up our responsibilities
Fly fishing is all about connections. Through it we connect us to the Earth around us. To a world of water, land and sky. We connect to ourselves. To our pasts, presents and futures. We connect to each other. To our friends, old and new. This is why we fish. This is why we created The Fly Connection.
We believe that we should give more than we take, and leave the waters we fish in each day in a better state than we find it
